Site Description
Bonnie’s” is a high-profile ledge dive site with easy navigation and spectacular terrain, making it an ideal habitat for numerous fish and marine critters. At a depth of 80 feet, the ledge hosts several year-round resident Goliath groupers. Loggerhead turtles often seek refuge in the deep crevices, hoping to avoid disturbance during their naps. Green morays, measuring 5 to 6 feet in length, cruise the crevices in search of prey. On the ledge’s top, you’ll find a large population of Butter hamlets, known for their gorgeous translucent blue lines on their faces. Blue Hamlet cousins protect their territories throughout the site. Large schools of Tomtates inhabit the “bays” formed within the ledge, sometimes obscuring the view due to their sheer numbers. Other common sightings include angelfish, grunts, goatfish, wrasses, snapper, and jacks. Whether diving at the bottom of the ledge (75–80 feet) or along the top (60–65 feet), “Bonnie’s” is a dive site that leaves divers smiling and eager to return.
Route
This is often conducted as a drift dive. Operator may put divers in the water either on the north or south end of the site to let divers drift along the ledge,
