Site Description
Similar to its neighbors, Quallman Tugs is home to a large amount of marine life - specially Goliath groupers and lemon sharks.
Both barges sit upright and intact. Although the site itself is not very big, being part of a wreck trek makes this site a must do for all intermediate divers.
This site offers no penetration opportunity.
Both barges are adorned with a multitude of hard and soft corals given their long time underwater.
Route
This dive is often conducted as a drift. Diver may be coming from the wreck of the Alpha if currents are north or from a few fragments of boats hulls - Merrit mold - if current is south.
Typical Conditions
Currents are typically north in this site and can be strong. Visibility ranges from 40 to 60 feet.
Wreck History
Not much is known about the history of Quallman other than they served during WWII to help spot german submarines in the Bahamas.
