Wreck history

The Tugboat Penobscot, built in 1954, was a hardworking vessel that served various maritime needs over the decades. Originally constructed for robust tasks, the tug eventually found itself in need of extensive repairs, which were undertaken at American Custom Yachts in Stuart, Florida. Unfortunately, the owner was unable to pay for the repairs, resulting in the tug sitting idle for a year. The repair yard foreclosed on the vessel due to the unpaid bill and subsequently donated it to the Martin County Anglers Club. The Penobscot now serves as an artificial reef, enhancing marine life habitats and providing a unique dive site for enthusiasts in the region.
