Site description

Another small tugboat in this area. The Carmen - although not as small as the White Coast Tug - it's a tiny wreck in the proximity of Haulover inlet. It's upright and only 150 feet west of the C-One. The wreck does not have much to offer but it's a good site to practice navigation skills in shallow waters. No penetration is possible in this wreck.

Route & typical conditions

Route

Divers may reach this wreck coming from the east - the C-One. One or two laps over the wreck will show divers everything that there's there to check.

Typical conditions

Murky conditions are normal in this area - specially in north heading currents and low tide. Proximity to Haulover is key factor for this. Currents can be strong in this site.

Wreck history

The Lady Carmen, formerly a 45-foot long tugboat, was intentionally sunk as an artificial reef in July 1999 off the coast of Miami. Encrusted with a delicate veneer of marine life, the tug now rests in 65 feet of water, slightly listing to starboard. In close proximity to the Lady Carmen, divers can explore additional underwater attractions. To the south lies an 80-foot long barge, while to the east are the tugs White Coast and C-One. Further northeast, within easy swimming distance, is the 150-foot long freighter Conception. These fascinating wrecks offer a captivating underwater experience for divers.
