Site description

Cottrell Key is a delightful dive site located on the Gulf side of Key West, making it a perfect spot for a day of laid-back snorkeling or scuba diving. Named after a 19th-century captain who protected passing vessels from grounding on the coral reef, Cottrell Key offers a serene and picturesque underwater experience. The calm waters on the Gulf side make it an ideal location, especially when the Atlantic side is rough. Divers at Cottrell Key can explore vibrant coral formations, sandy patches, and a variety of marine life, including tropical fish and sea turtles. The site is easily accessible from Key West, and its relaxed environment makes it a favorite among both novice and experienced divers5 . Whether you're looking to snorkel or dive, Cottrell Key provides a beautiful and tranquil underwater adventure.
