Site description

Julie’s is often chosen as a second dive on a 2-tank trip due to its relatively shallow depth (65 to 75 feet) and its appeal to a wide range of divers. For sightseers, the western side of Julie’s features a stunning low-profile ledge inhabited by myriad tropical fish. Blue, Queen, French, and Gray angelfish, along with their Rock Beauty cousins, can be found in the nooks and crannies of this ledge. Keep an eye out for tiny, brilliantly colored juveniles. Additionally, Four-eye, Spotfin, Reef, and Banded butterfly fish often appear in pairs. Schools of French, Blue, Stripe, and Spanish Grunts swim around the little cul-de-sacs. Green and Spotted moray eels make the crevices their home, while Loggerhead and Hawksbill turtles, Nurse sharks, and occasional Goliath groupers are usually found under the ledge. On the eastern side of Julie’s, lobster hunters will find porkfish readily pointing out the little blowouts where lobsters try to hide. The low-profile, sandy broken bottom provides an ideal habitat for the “bugs” that attract many divers. With sightseeing opportunities on the west side and lobster hunting on the east, Julie’s truly offers something for everybody.
