Site description

As per Michael Barnett - who identified the wreck back in 2007; the Kringeline was a sailboat of about 50 feet. She lays mostly intact in more than 300 feet of water and she's tilted to her port side. Lionfish are very abundant in this site - probably because is a very rarely dove site - only suitable for the advanced technical diver. Penetration is not possible in this wreck

Route & typical conditions

Route

This dive is always a hot drop dive. Depending on currents, divers will be put on the water upcurrent to hit the wreck. A couple of laps is enough to see what this site has to offer.

Typical conditions

Given it's extreme depth, this site tends to get very dark at depth. Divers should carry at least two lights to assure a good experience. Also it's depth makes it a relatively short bottom time dive - divers should expect to spend most of the time decompressing. At this depth, the water is frequently cold compared to the surface water. However temperatures have been recorded as high as 73° F and as low as 50° F. Currents vary a lot in this site, but they are mostly north.

Wreck history

Not much is known about the history of the wreck. Several reports talk about a foreign sailboat that sunk in the waters of Boca Raton, but it's origins are still unknown.
