Site description

The San Remo reef is a small section of the third reef line (outer reef) located just three miles north of the Boca Raton Inlet. It offers divers an exciting underwater experience with overhangs, small caves, and crevices formed by its narrow ledge running north to south. Marine life sightings include octopuses, squid, spotted eagle rays, etc.

Route & typical conditions

Route

As many other reefs in south Florida, this site is often dove as a drift dive. Operators may put divers in the water in one end of the reef (depending on the current) and pick them up at the end with no need to swim back to the boat. The lead diver of the group will carry the dive flag, which is mandatory in Florida.

Typical conditions

Currents tend to be moderate to strong in this site compared to sites further south. Visibility ranges from 40 to 80 feet in this site.
