Site description

This costal freighter sits in the coast of Fort Lauderdale Beach in 260 feet of water. It's an advanced Trimix dive requiring divers to take a hypoxic bottom gas with them. Local divers call this wreck "Pee Wee" or "Vreeland". The wreck it self sits upright and its mostly intact (as of 2021). Large marine life is always present in this wreck. Divers shall expect pompanos and different types of ambers patrolling the wreck. Penetration is possible in the wreck.

Route & typical conditions

Route

Divers shall explore the outside of the wreck prior to attempting penetration. Given its depth, bottom time is limited and is highly recommended to dive it at least one or two times prior to going for the engine room. This dive is always done as a hot drop and a drift. If south currents are present the dive operator may call the dive given its proximity to Port Everglades inlet - divers are likely to end their decompression obligations very near the inlet canal.

Typical conditions

This site is very dark. Although visibility averages 40 feet, divers may need to adapt to the change in clarity and light while descending. Current can be very strong.
