Site description

Steve’s Twin Ledges, situated just south of the Pompano Beach Pier, consist of two parallel ledges running north and south along the shoreline. The western ledge reaches a height of approximately 33 feet and descends 5-7 feet toward the sand. On the eastern twin, the slope ranges from 40 to 45 feet on the west side. These ledges are teeming with tropical fish, and during mini season, lobsters are typically abundant.

Route & typical conditions

Route

For the best definition, start at either end of the landward ledge and follow the reef edge. Keep in mind that gaps can make it confusing at times. Alternatively, you can head east and explore the seaward ledge.

Typical conditions

Conditions are typical of any south FL reef for this site: current are mostly mild and heading north, while visibility ranges 40 to 60 feet.
