Site description

Ziegler’s Zoo is an exceptional deep-water reef spot for exploration. Starting to the south at approximately 100 feet, divers encounter a three-step reef with depths of around 110 feet in the sandy area off the western ledge. The reef primarily runs north, but upon reaching the bottom, divers discover a double dogleg extending westward. In strong currents, it’s advisable to stay low and close to the lower part of the ledge to avoid being pulled over the top of the reef and away from the ledge. Diverse marine life thrives in Ziegler’s Zoo. Various species of sharks inhabit the area, making it an exciting spot for underwater enthusiasts. Additionally, the deep ledges here are ideal for catching lobster and lionfish. Beyond its appeal to underwater hunters, Ziegler’s Zoo is also a fantastic site for sightseeing divers and underwater photographers.
