Site description

There are 25 mooring balls in this site - these coordinates mark the center of the reef. Part of the 2nd reef line, Barracuda reef has a nice west facing ledge that get a ton of marine life. From grunts, to surgeon fish to angel fish, all kind of species swim around this shallow reef. Funny enough, barracudas are not seen here as often as divers may think. Nurse sharks are more common in this site than barracudas.

Route & typical conditions

Route

Depending on the current, operators may put divers at the north or south end of the reef and pick divers at the end of the dive - drift dive. Divers shall be careful about heavy boat traffic in the area - specially during weekends. This is a very popular spot for partygoers and fishermen alike.

Typical conditions

Currents are not strong and visibility tends to be good. A south current may see visibility affected - murky waters coming out of Port Everglades inlet.
