Site description

Brown House Reef (a Black Condo), located off Boynton Beach in South Florida, has a quirky origin for its name. Before GPS, many reefs were named after nearby landmarks used for navigation. The highest concentration of marine life is found on the western-facing ledge. If you’re searching for lobster, explore west of the main ledge where rubble replaces sand. And keep an eye out—Hammerhead sharks have been spotted here! If you venture to the eastern side of the reef, you might encounter some pillar coral

Route & typical conditions

Route

To explore Brown House Reef effectively, consider starting your dive from either the north or south drop, depending on the current. Drift with the current along the main ledge, where you’ll find the highest concentration of marine life. If you’re on the hunt for lobsters, swim slightly west of the main ledge and drift along the rubble.

Typical conditions

Strong currents are very often present in this site - and typically heading north. Visibility ranges from 40 to 80 feet.
