Site description

Captain Crunch is a nice reef dive site located off the coast of Boca Raton. This site sits in the north part of the site "Chellont" past the artificial trench dug on the sea floor. Part of the outer reef (or Florida 3rd reef line), this site offers a west facing ledge where most of the marine life congregates. A variety of tropical fish call this place home: divers may see parrot fish, grunts, hog fish, groupers and snappers swimming around the reef. It is also known as a good spot for lobstering.

Route & typical conditions

Route

As many other dive sites in the area, operators often choose to do this site as a drift dive - given the prevalent north currents. Diver are not requested to come back to the starting point of the dive but will be picked up at the end of the dive. Carrying a dive flag is mandatory.

Typical conditions

Good conditions are the norm in this site, although divers should expect moderate to strong currents. Visibility ranges from 40 to 80 feet.
