Site description

The Hillsboro Ledge is a drift dive site located off Deerfield Beach in South Florida. Here’s what you’ll find there: a sheer N-S trending ledge with holes that offer good cover for marine animals, landward of the edge low blocks of rubble interspersed with sand, and an abundance of tropical fish including yellowheaded jawfish and tobacco fish. During mini season, this reef is especially popular, and just north of the reef’s end, you’ll discover rock islands forming a small swim-through where you might spot snook

Route & typical conditions

Route

Follow the main ledge north with the current. If you have enough air and time, cross a short sand gap to the rock islands north of the main ledge. Alternatively, for a south current, start out on the islands north of the main ledge

Typical conditions

Good conditions in general in this site. Currents are mild (if any) and visibility ranges 40 to 70 feet.
