Site description
The “Runway” dive site in Islamorada is a unique underwater location known for its distinctive large sand channel that runs the entire length of the site, resembling an aerial runway. With a depth ranging from 30 to 90 feet, it’s a popular spot for both divers and fishermen due to the interesting contours of the bottom. This site is also where reef cleanups are conducted, often yielding numerous anchors, fishing lines, and other marine debris. The “Runway” offers divers a chance to explore a vibrant ecosystem while contributing to the preservation of the marine environment.

Typically conducted as a drift dive. The east part of the site has a steep slope that creates a nice environment for large marine life. Divers should follow the current and always carry a dive flag.
