Site description

This flat barge site south east to the Tortuga wreck in Miami. Although it does not offer anything to explore other than a hard bottom, marine life thrives in here. Schools of tropical fish are very common in this site, and in occasions there are so many that it may become impossible to see the Tortuga in the back.

Route & typical conditions

Route

Divers should swim from the bow of the Tortuga to the south to find this site. The swim is probably less than 100 feet - it even feels like this is the same site, which it may actually be the case.

Typical conditions

Currents are typically very strong in this site, and in particular, this barge offers no shelter. Because the currents are often heading north, reaching the site from the Tortuga may be a swim agains the current but it makes the return back to Tortuga a very easy swim - actually a finning less drift.

Wreck history

Not much is known about the history of this barge.
