Site description

This is a small wreck that sits just north of the Tortuga. Marine life is average, but divers have reported seeing s great hammerhead roaming these waters in more than one occasion. Penetration is possible in this wreck, and divers may have the opportunity to see what's left of the engine room. It's superstructure has been removed and there is nothing really to explore on the outside.

Route & typical conditions

Route

Divers may reach this wreck from the south - usually drifting from the Tortuga. Leaving midship from Tortuga, divers may swim for no more than 5 minutes to get to this site. A couple of laps will give divers everything they should expect from this tiny wreck. The sand level offers a nice view of the propeller. After the visit, diver may want to continue drifting north to see the Betek - which offers much more to see and explore.

Typical conditions

Currents tend to be strong in this area and visibility fairly good.

Wreck history

The St. Henry’s Express, a 120-foot-long vessel, was intentionally sunk in 115 feet of water off Miami in February 1997 to create an artificial reef. Despite having only about 20 feet of relief, the vessel lacks significant marine growth and may not be particularly appealing to average divers. It lies between the 160-foot-long offshore supply vessel Tortuga (approximately 300 feet to the south) and the 75-foot-long Betek Ar Pen (just over 150 feet to the north)
